Pakistan captain Babar Azam has criticized the team’s middle order after the defeat in the T20 series against England. Despite making a good start while batting in the fourth and last T20 match of the series, Pakistan team was bundled out for just 157 runs. Pakistan’s score in the powerplay was 59/1 but the team collapsed for just 157 runs. Azam Khan, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi were out for a duck in the final T20 match, which eventually led to Pakistan losing the series 2–0.
An angry Babar Azam spoke at the post-match presentation ceremony and expressed hope that the middle order will perform better in the T20 World Cup 2024. Babar had the right to be angry as Pakistan was in a good position with a successful opening partnership between Babar and Mohammad. Rizwan. In the last over of the powerplay, the captain was out first by bowling the ball at third man against Joffra Archer.
Pakistan failed to take advantage of the run pace and lost wickets continuously and were eventually all out for 157 runs in 19.5 overs. After the top three – Babar (36 off 22), Rizwan (23 off 16) and Usman Khan (38 off 21), five players scored in single figures in the rest of the innings, three of which were ducks.
“The first six overs, we played very well. After that, as the wickets fell, the momentum changed. Our middle-order needs to step up. You need 2-3 good overs in the middle and in the death overs as well. England’s The bowling was very good, hopefully we won’t do that in the World Cup,” Babar Azam said after the match.
Chasing 158 runs, England achieved the target in a very short time and achieved the target in 15.3 overs with 7 wickets remaining. Phil Salt was the top scorer with 45 runs in 24 balls, while captain Jos Buttler scored 39 runs in 21 balls.
Pakistan will now travel to the United States and begin their campaign against co-hosts America on June 6. They will play their first game at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
