Shubman Gill, who replaced T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma in the captaincy role, has announced his retirement from the format.
India will play the first T20I match of the five-match series against Zimbabwe on Saturday, July 6 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. The Indian cricket team will be captained by Shubman Gill, who will be taking charge of the T20Is for the first time in the upcoming series.
In the leadership role, Shubman Gill will replace T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma, who has announced his retirement from the format, and replace Hardik Pandya, who has been retired from the series, as the vice-captain. The right-handed batsman, with an excellent batting record in the format, will open the innings for India in the T20I series alongside Sai Sudharsan or Abhishek Sharma, both of whom are left-handed batsmen at the top of the order.
The responsibility of batting at number three could fall on Ruduraj Gaikwad, while Ryan Barrack could get the no. 4 spot after dominating in IPL 2024. Dhruv Jural or Jitesh Sharma could get the chance to pick up the gloves for the Indian cricket team against Zimbabwe. In the T20I series.
Rinku Singh and Washington Sundar are only sixth and seventh in the Indian playing XI. After missing the flight to the USA to play in the T20 World Cup 2024, the team management may opt for three fast bowlers Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar with Ravi Bishnoi as the main spinner.
