Former CSK batsman Ambati Rayudu publicly mocked RCB after being ruled out of IPL 2024.
“Just a kind remembrance from the 5-time champions,” read the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman’s Instagram post on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) being eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While it is a common thing to see franchises and teams clash on social media, it is not often that one sees cricketers taking part in such battles on the internet.
It was RCB that knocked CSK out of the IPL in this campaign, which left Rayudu upset. But, it seems the former India batsman enjoyed the Bengaluru team’s exit from the competition.
Taking to Instagram, Rayudu shared a post mocking RCB and captioned it: “Sometimes a gentle reminder is needed”. In the video post, several CSK players can be seen making the 5 gesture indicating the number of times they have won the IPL.
Earlier, Rayudu had also said, “If you talk about RCB, it shows that passion and celebration alone cannot get you a trophy. Just reaching the playoffs does not get you an IPL trophy. Don’t think like that. That you will win.” Trophy only after defeating CSK.
As far as the match is concerned, RCB captain was proud of the effort put in by this team to reach the playoffs, especially after they had lost 7 of their first 8 matches. However, RR ended RCB’s winning streak in the playoffs.
“With the dew coming, we felt we were weak with the bat. We felt we were 20 runs short of a good score. Credit to the boys – they fought really well. That’s all you can ask for. If you see Naturally assessing the pitch and the conditions, you would say it is a 180 pitch because it was swinging up and quite slow, but what we have found this season, with the impact player, par scores now. Not enough.
“Also coming off the dew. Very proud. A lot of teams – their wheels would have been worn off after 1 of 9. To come back like this, for six games in a row, took a lot of heart and character.” It’s special in terms of scoring that extra 20 runs with the bat tonight,” the RCB skipper had said.
