Gambhir, who had led KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 as captain, was ready for a new challenge and decided to take charge of KKR. But, all this came as a big surprise to LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, who was astonished by the development.

After spending just a year at KKR, Gambhir is at a crossroads, with the India head coach’s job also reportedly awaiting his approval. It is being said that Gambhir is on the top of BCCI’s wish list as an alternative to Rahul Dravid. But, with Shah Rukh Khan agreeing to the ’10-year offer’, Gambhir will also have to take a tough decision.
If Gambhir says ‘no’ then BCCI does not have many major options to choose from. It is reported that no famous Australian name has applied for the India head coach position, while VVS Laxman is also not interested.
It all depends on whether BCCI will be successful in convincing Gambhir or not.
