India’s Men in Blue clinched their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados, reminiscent of their maiden success in 2007, and their first ICC triumph in eleven years.
New Delhi: According to reports, the T20 World Cup winning Indian team may meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi after returning from Barbados. Team India has been stuck in Barbados for the last two days due to storm Beryl. According to IANS, the team will leave Barbados on Tuesday evening (local time) and reach Delhi on Wednesday. A source said, “The Indian cricket team may meet Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning after returning from Barbados.”
PM Modi called the winning team shortly after the win to congratulate them. Apart from praising Virat Kohli for his 76-run innings in the championship game and his contribution to Indian cricket, he also praised Rohit Sharma for his brilliant captaincy and his T20 career. He also praised coach Rahul Dravid for his invaluable role in the game.
India won their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados on Saturday. Earlier, the Indian team won the inaugural edition of the mega event in 2007. With this win, India won their first ICC title in eleven years, having earlier won the Champions Trophy in 2013.
