The second round of the T20 World Cup 2024, the Super 8, will begin on June 19 with the eight teams divided into two groups of four each.
India booked their place in the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 with a seven-wicket win over the United States in New York on Wednesday.
The second round of the competition, Super 8, will begin on June 19 in which the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four each. The top two teams from both will play the semi-finals.
The groups will be determined based on the ranking given to the teams before the start of the World Cup. The teams will be divided into two Super 8 groups as follows: A1, B2, C1, D2 and A2, B1, C2, D1.
India was seeded first in Group A. Australia will enter India’s Super 8 pool as the second seed from Group B. Since the defending champions in Group B were England, Australia was placed second.
The final status of the other two groups is yet to be confirmed. As things stand, New Zealand, who finished first in Group C, are almost out. Afghanistan is likely to move forward in its place, bringing it into India’s pool.
South Africa are the top seeds in Pool D and advance to the next round. The other team to advance from that group, which will likely be Bangladesh, will play India in the Super 8.
