“I have also directed the New York State Police to engage in enhanced security measures, including increased law enforcement presence, enhanced monitoring and intensified screening processes,” he said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.
“Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring that the Cricket World Cup is a safe, enjoyable experience,” he said.
ESPN Cricinfo has learned that authorities have found no corroborating evidence to support the reported threat. But the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said security will remain “strong” at all venues throughout the tournament.
